Synopsis:
This follows our main character, Lucy as she's back living in the small beach town where she grew up. She has taken on the responsibility of keeping the town bookstore open while running a Little Free Library in her free time. Everyone that leaves books in this Little Free Library is encouraged to leave a little note about why they recommend the book, signed with a moniker. Lucy randomly starts recommending books back and forth with someone named Gatsby's Ghost. He seems to know exactly what she needs to read during different things she's going through without even knowing her.
However, not all of Lucy's worries are washed away. The town gets a new visitor as the city is scrambling to figure out how to bring in more revenue to keep them afloat. Logan is the one they've hired to put together a plan that everyone is on board with that will bring in enough business. Lucy doesn't want to just sit back and let them ruin her hometown with big commercial buildings so she decides to step up to work against Logan's efforts to get what she wants.
My Review:
This was such a cozy, warm summer read that was perfect to help me escape from the cold winter months. The two main characters are corresponding through the Little Free Library of my dreams as they exchange book recommendations back and forth. There’s also another main plot line that helped create depth for both of the characters and immerse the reader in Heron Isle and really care for the small town.
Everything about the setting of this novel was so atmospheric and made me want to plan a trip to the town that inspired this fictional world. I have a special place in my heart for both our main characters now and the dual POV really aided in that. Everyone needs to pick this up if you’re looking for a light hearted romance that still has a lot of depth.
